SALARY: $ 15.00 per hour


 
REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A high school diploma.
  2. Appropriate experience in the use of personal computers and Windows software applications.
  3. Ability to work varied shift assignments including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  4. Successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
  5. After meeting minimum application standards by a panel review, must complete an evaluation and interview.
  6. Covid-19 Vaccination is recommended.


GENERAL DEFINITION

The Pretrial Service Department of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania’s mission is to safeguard pretrial justice while maximizing public safety and court appearance. Pretrial Services meets this mission through pre-arraignment interviews, facilitating the release and subsequent monitoring of those court-ordered to Electronic Monitoring, providing supervised release and social services, and conducting appointment of counsel interviews.

The part-time positions within Pretrial Services involve various verification work within The Data Verification Unit, The Electronic Monitoring Center, and The Bail Interviewing Unit. The work in each of these units requires contact with criminal justice partners, attorneys, arrested individuals, and the general public to perform warrant verifications, process Electronic Monitoring Center alerts, and collect data from newly arrested individuals. An employee in this position must maintain professionalism, pay close attention to detail to ensure the information is recorded accurately, and communicate clearly and concisely. Assignments are traditionally routine and must be carried out per standards, well-defined procedures, policies, and regulations.

The Data Verification Unit, Electronic Monitoring Unit, and the Bail Interviewing Units operate 24/7/365. Employees of this class are categorized as essential personnel and must report to work during court closures, weekends, and holidays.

• Data Verification Unit and Electronic Monitoring Center both offer part-time, steady shift assignments. Shift availability and start times may vary and will be based on the staffing needs of the individual units.

• Bail Interviewing Unit offers a part-time, on-call position. Shift availability and start times may vary and will be based on the staffing needs of the individual units.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Data Verification Unit

• Verification of bench warrants in various court systems;
• Receive requests for court records related to bench warrants from correctional facilities, court officials, various law enforcement agencies, and/or the District Attorney’s Office.
• Performs routine data entry functions to record bench warrant-related arrest information.

Electronic Monitoring Center

• Respond telephonically to Electronic Monitoring Alerts from the activity or inactivity of clients enrolled on EM House Arrest.
• Input all information received from the defendant into the required databases along with relaying the information to the supervisor.
• Sanitize Electronic Monitoring Equipment retrieved after completion of usage in the field.
• Verification of phone calls and messaging through the Electronic Monitoring Unit vendor databases to confirm the defendant’s location.

Bail Interviewing Unit
• Interviews newly arrested individuals to obtain personal, employment, and education histories.
• Verifies addresses supplied by newly arrested individuals via telephone contact.
• A computerized database retrieves and evaluates court history data, such as an individual’s court appearance history, pending charges, and prior criminal records.


MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Answers the telephone and may greet the public;
Provides general information pertaining to assigned function;
Replenishes computer printer paper, copier, or fax machine paper supplies;
Performs related functions and assignments as required or assigned by an administrative superior.

• Skill in computer access and data entry on pre-established screens

• Knowledge of the operations and procedures of the particular courts of jurisdiction with regard to assigned function.
